3G-only IoT devices may be unable to run once 3G network retires. You are encouraged to perform an audit and inventory to see if your devices are 2G and 4G compatible and update to newer technology.
3G Sunset Support
Any device that is manufactured or issued before 2018 may be impacted by the 3G shut down. This includes tablets, smartphones, GPS, alarm systems and general machinery. Digi will work closely with business customers to ensure a smooth transition and minimise any business disruption. We will update customers with any developments and give ample notice to allow all customers to safely migrate their devices to newer technologies. Digi will also support coverage checks and SIM card replacement requests throughout the migration process. Digi will have customer service staff on hand to support the business migration process, but customers are responsible for any device upgrades.
As per the government’s guidelines, we will not certify nor support the deployment of 3G equipment starting 2021. While 3G devices can continue to run until the specified shut down period, customers are encouraged to upgrade to 4G technology to maintain connectivity.
No, 4G SIM cards will continue to be supported and work as usual through this time.
Customers on 2G and 4G LTE networks will not experience any coverage disruption.
