SUBANG JAYA, 27 AUGUST 2021 – Over the past year, we have heard how devastating the Covid-19 pandemic has been, with direct impact on people, their livelihood and well-being. This National Day, Digi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd (Digi) asks Malaysian children what this pandemic means to them and explores the learnings behind the lasting impression it has made.
Inspired by these children, Digi’s National Day video, “Teladan” looks at the pandemic from their standpoint. As they become aware of the everyday struggles that their parents and people around them are facing to make ends meet for the family, these children also pick up values like diligence and determination, as well as the kindness and generosity shown to those more in need. Often, this can have an enduring influence on these children, instilling important values that will remain with them throughout their lives.
Forced to adapt to a new routine, these children also learned to be more appreciative of the meaningful moments that have now been relegated to the digital world, from missing school time to yearning for simple joy of playing with friends or spending their waktu rehat together.
Bernard Lee, Digi’s Head of Marketing Services said, “Perspective shapes the lens of which we view hardships and children have a unique way of seeing things optimistically. As they watch their parents find creative ways to make ends meet and give back to the community, they too will adopt this spirit of perseverance and compassion. May we never forget the valuable lessons we are imparting to our children who will ultimately make up the future generation of leaders. On behalf of Digi, we would like to wish all Malaysians a Selamat Hari Kebangsaan and Hari Malaysia, and to stay safe at home.”
