Causeway Link selects Digi’s iFleet as its preferred Bus Wi-Fi provider

Leading cross-border bus operator uses iFleet Wi-Fi to enhance passenger experience and satisfaction with unlimited free Wi-Fi

SUBANG JAYA, 19 December 2019 – Today, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) announced that Causeway Link has selected Digi's iFleet as its preferred Bus Wi-Fi provider.

Causeway Link, the largest cross-border bus operator in Malaysia, is using Digi's consistent high-speed 4G LTE and LTE-A network, as well as its scalable iFleet Wi-Fi service, to provide their passengers with free uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivityon their journey between Malaysia and Singapore.

Causeway Link is leveraging iFleet’s robust software, hardware and network infrastructure to increase passenger satisfaction as it continues to scale its business, growing from a startup into the largest Malaysian cross-border transportation company that supports 3 million passengers a month across 550 buses. By leveraging iFleet’s Wi-Fi and API capabilities, Causeway Link has also been able to innovate more quickly – for example, the company recently introduced a seamless experience on their official mobile app, LUGO, that lets passengers obtain their free Wi-Fi pass without having to worry about the WiFi SSID and password that is common practice in most other free Wi-Fi zones. Causeway Link works closely with Digi’s iFleet team to help it maintain the necessary infrastructure to the highest customer satisfaction standards.

Causeway Link plans to follow up the successful trial of its free Wi-Fi service on its buses, by deploying iFleet Wi-Fi across 150 buses that serve the frequently used routes between Johor in Malaysia and Singapore. The typical journey for most passengers on these routes would be around 45-60 minutes, making Wi-Fi a necessary service to keep passengers connected and entertained on their mobile phones, regardless of whether they have a roaming service turned on with their respective mobile phone operators.

Lim Chern Chuen, Planning and Strategy Director, Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (HISB), the operator of Causeway Link buses, says, “As a service provider, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance our passengers’ journey when they choose to travel with us. We observed that connectivity was an issue as they moved across the causeway and saw an opportunity to address this pain point by providing them free Wi-Fi. With iFleet Wi-Fi, our passengers can now utilise unlimited data for free, which will make their experience with us even more comfortable and pleasant.”

Digi’s Chief Digital Officer, Praveen Rajan says, “Internet connectivity has become a necessity and we want all travellers to stay connected to what matters most to them anywhere and anytime. This partnership with Causeway Link buses is a great way for us to connect more Malaysians on their journey across the causeway and provide them with a seamless experience as they travel between countries, regardless of which mobile operator they use.”
