Principal – Infra Architect

We are looking for an Infrastructure Architect with experience in planning and designing IT Infrastructure including Security consideration.

As part of our journey to becoming our Customer’s Favourite Partner in Digital Life, we are transforming many aspects of our front-end, middleware, core IT services and business analytic.  Infra & Security Architect supports this goal by:

  • Responsible for Infrastructure architecture, modelling, design and development of data warehouse solutions
  • Responsible for IT Infrastructure, covering security and application.
  • Developing, driving, maintaining and governing Blueprint, Roadmap and long-term Strategy.
  • Supporting concept and project stages in the understanding requirement, doing the assessment, plan and implement Infrastructure services.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Establish, develop and drive Infrastructure architecture which includes risk assessments as well as providing technology requirements to address risks identified. Coverage examples: 

a. Authentication, Authorization, Auditing
b. Secure Data Transport
c. Hardware & OS Hardening

  • Establish and Develop technology Infra reference architecture (with security considerations) and conduct updates/enhancements to guidance, policies, or other applicable reference materials.
  • Engage in various Operational and Technology Risk governance processes.
  • Represent, where applicable, IT Architecture in architecture review committees 
  • Responsible for the architecture, design and development of IT Infrastructure.
  • Make sense of Business priorities and strategies; translate into Architecture requirements.  This includes understanding business, systems and translating them into infrastructure setup, solution and dimensioning.
  • Consult in planning, managing, and participating in the diagnosis, detailed design, and deployment of all infrastructure related processes and technologies including OS, Virtualization and Cloud Computing, Networks, Storage and Backups, IT Operations & service management tools etc.
  • Closely collaborate with Information Security, Application and other Infrastructure Architect peers on overall roadmap and priorities for the duration of the project
  • Manage and deliver solution development and an effective technology governance process.
  • Keeping up-to-date with new IT technology developments and trends; makes recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments.
  • Define, document and maintain the Infrastructure architectures.
  • Establish and develop a roadmap of Infrastructure investments and capabilities that is aligned to future projects.
  • Identify, plan and deliver Infrastructure Architecture initiatives with a focus on innovation and alignment to the Architecture Frameworks.
  • Advocate Infrastructure Architecture programs and deliverables to projects and the business performing technology evaluation and selection efforts.
  • Experience using common sense, logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative technical solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, driving data driven decisions.
  • Develop and execute a cloud strategy that supports the Next Generation Platform and anticipated business growth.
  • Optimize Cloud instances with emphasis on balancing cost, availability and durability/disaster recovery.
  • Communicate to different audiences. It is important to be able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in written documents (graphics or text), and to present these clearly to management level.
  • Display a pragmatic and practical approach to hybrid/multi cloud solution implementation.
  • Provide technical leadership in architecture design and demonstrate the ability to see a design through to implementation to achieve desired results.
  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor. Provide technical support or leadership in the development and continual improvement of service.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand emerging business needs and opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology partners.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership with partners during project implementation.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • It is important that you have at least a tertiary level qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology or Management field or hold a professional qualification from a recognized body, though the extensive relevant experience may be considered in place of this.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, at least 6 years in roles directly pertaining to infrastructure deployment  or operations/cloud technology.
  • You should have working experience in one or more of the following application/network security areas: Authentication (SAML, Kerberos, OpenID), Entitlements and identity management, Data protection, secure data transfer and storage, Hardware and OS hardening.
  • Experience as an infrastructure architect or similar role, leading a technical team either as a technical leader or a managerial leader.
  • Experience working with key technologies (e.g. virtualization) and modern architectural structures.
  • Experience with open-source technologies such as Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, RDMS.
  • Experience in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Foundational knowledge of DevOps operations.
  • Experience in Redhat Openstack and Openshift or Kubernetes is preferred as well as CMP (Cloud Management Platform)
  • Experience in End User Computing (Windows 10, Enterprise WiFi).
  • Experience with security concepts and technologies (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature), SSL, web service proxies, firewalls, multi-protocol gateways and VPN.
  • Experience with automation management platforms (e.g. Ansible)
  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms (RDBMS, NoSQL, Hadoop).
  • Experience with network security, encryption technology.
  • Understands field as a thought leader.
  • Able to create comprehensive architecture standards and manage at scale effectively.
  • Design, model and implement architecture solutions to meet the business needs and risk tolerance criteria.
  • Ensure changes to the environment generated by the department are compatible and compliant with the architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with Design Authorities to identify standard architectures and develop architecture frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, presentation, listening.
  • Able to influence and sway opinions through factual reasoning.
  • Multitasking on handling concurrent assessments.
  • Self-driven attitude with high sense of accountability.
  • Strong focus on delivery when presented with short timelines and increased involvement from senior management.
  • Able to gauge and alter communication of technology risks vs business risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate in multiple virtual teams or ability to operate as an individual contributor.
  • General knowledge of IT application, network and/or platform security vulnerabilities.
  • Strong focus on reviewing technical designs and functional requirements to identify areas of general Security weakness. 
  • Good understanding and strong technical knowledge experience in these Infrastructure areas and ability to anticipate / recommend / derive roadmap for future and aligning to company direction in Digital Services and Internet for All, with capabilities emphasis on innovative and creative thinking solutions derived through expert knowledge of digital technology and industry trends.
